Check Out Our Maldives Trip - September 2024

I was lucky enough to be hosted by the brilliant Hummingbird Travel, on a recent whistlestop tour of 5 Islands in the Maldives.

We arrived via Ethihad indirect flights in September 2024, and spent 6nts visiting 5 different resorts.

Nova Maldives - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This gorgeous, small 5* resort was our first stop. Situated in the South Ari Atoll, just a 25-minute seaplane transfer from Male.

This resort has just 76 rooms, including 25 Overwater Villas (8 with pools). They have Interconnecting Beach Villas for families and 1 x 2 Bedroom Unit.

There is no kids club, and it does tend to be more adult-focused, a great honeymoon destination. It is one of the only places in the Maldives you can see Whale Sharks, and has some of the best Diving & snorkelling in the world. Home to 3 restaurants, including the most amazing Teppanyak Overwater restaurant, there is plenty of dining choice.

The Standard - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As it's logo suggests, this resort is trying to turn things on their head. With 115 Beach & Overwater Villas, this resort is funky!

With weekly pool parties, a live DJ on the beach at sunset, this is where the cool kids hang out. Either a 40min seaplane ride, or 30min domestic flight + 25min speedboat transfer.

Each room has a wall of water activity fun, including a big pink rubber ring, snorkels & life vests, and each bathroom is complete with a disco ball!! A choice of 3 restaurants, including a BBQ Shak on the beach, complete with the most amazing seafood!

Ifuru Island - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Opened in 2023 this beautiful, natural island is home to 1.2km stretch of beautiful white sand.

With it's own domestic airport, this island is the only place in the Maldives you can skydive! One of the best areas in the Maldives to see dolphins, this gorgeous resort has THE MOST stunning wedding/vow renewal area.

With a kids club, interconnecting rooms and 2 Bedroom family villas there is a huge choice of accommodation, you can even take a "nest" which is a collection of 4 suites, that give you loads of space if coming with extended family or friends. They have a very cool beach club and a waterfront Asian fusion restaurant, this premium all-inclusive resort will satisfy the whole family.

Reethi Faru - 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This beautiful, rustic and very Maldivian resort is great for families. a 45min seaplane or 20min domestic flight + 40min speedboat, it is barefoot luxury at its best. With 150 villas concealed in a lush jungle it is a one of a kind tropical paradise.

They don't have a kids club, but do have a kids area, a fantastic watersports centre with a great house reef for snorkelling. With a great choice of restaurants & bars, including a Veggie & Vegan restaurant.

If you like the idea of an outdoor bathroom, and showering in nature, this is the resort for you.

Emerald Faarufushi - 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This wonderful 80 Villa resort is perfect for families and couples alike. With a mix of beach & overwater villas, including 10 Family Beach Villas, a kids club from 3yrs, large restaurant choice, this deluxe all-inclusive resort is a member of Leading Hotels of the World.

Situated in the Raa Atoll, it is a 45-minute seaplane journey or a 40-minute domestic flight and a 5-minute speedboat transfer.

Each villa comes with a bike, so you can explore the island at your leisure, they have live music in the sunset pool bar each night, this was absolutely one of my favourites.
