I toured Costa Rica with my 12-year-old in October 2025, and it has shot to the top of my list as the BEST family holiday destination for active families who want adventure, wildlife, and beautiful beaches!

Adventure lovers will relish rainforest hikes and brisk high-altitude trails, rushing white-water rapids, and warm-water, world-class surfing. Costa Rica offers a dizzying array of outdoor adventures in every shape and size – from the squeal-inducing rush of a canopy zipline to a sun-dazed afternoon on the beach.

National parks allow visitors to glimpse life in both rainforest and cloud forest, simmering volcanoes provide otherworldly vistas, and reliable surf breaks cater to both beginners and experts alike.

Costa Rica has a tropical climate,so, is a great year round destination. The best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from December to April, although the country is beautiful year-round.

One of the most popular activities in Costa Rica is eco-tourism. The country has numerous national parks, nature reserves, and protected areas that showcase its incredible biodiversity. Visitors can go on guided nature hikes, spot exotic birds and animals like sloths and monkeys, and enjoy zip lining or white water rafting.

Costa Rica is also known for its beautiful beaches, which are perfect for surfing, sunbathing, and swimming. Some of the most popular beaches include Tamarindo, Jaco, and Manuel Antonio.

Other activities in Costa Rica include exploring its vibrant cities, trying traditional Costa Rican cuisine, and learning about the country’s rich history and culture.

A huge shout out to Elaine for putting together the perfect holiday! Everything went seamlessly. All our transfers were waiting. We were in safe hands with professional friendly drivers. The most fabulous hotels in perfect locations were exactly what we were looking for. The cruise was beyond our expectations. Nothing was too much trouble for Elaine. She always came straight back to me with any queries. For us, it was just so great to relax knowing everything had been taken care of. Highly recommend her.

Nicky was a wonderful help when we were totally overwhelmed with options (most unsuitable) she offered us limited, suitable suggestions which completely met our brief resulting in a holiday which was just what we wanted and perfect for us. With a friendly, personal touch with excellent communication and reassurance Nicky gave us full confidence and removed all the unknown. I’m so glad that we found Nicky - we asked her for recommendations for a resort holiday for 3 kids under 7 and she definitely delivered.
